Black Friday. Cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday

Wouldn’t  it be nice if there were a nationwide day of giving….one special day devoted to supporting those organizations devoted to service? Well there is such a day: December 2nd, #GivingTuesday.  After all the in-store and online shopping, millions of people will be making donations to their favorite charities. We’re asking that you make the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance part of your #GivingTuesday tradition.

Your gift makes so much possible.

The money you donar to the Alliance goes to support programs like the Arkansas Gleaning Project. Generous growers across the state allow us to glean the produce left in their fields after the harvest. This year we gleaned 1.5 million pounds of fresh produce at a cost of less than 3 cents per pound. So even a modest donation of, say, $5 represents over 166 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables that would have gone to waste.

Your gift will help us bring Breakfast-After-the-Bell programs to more Arkansas schools. More than 130,000 kids in over 370 schools are starting their days focused and ready to learn thanks to the grants and technical assistance the Arkansas No Kid Hungry campaign provides.  A school nurse in Bryant said her office used to be full of kids every morning complaining of headaches and tummy aches because they were hungry.  Since her school began the Breakfast in the Classroom program, she said her office is virtually empty in the morning.

Arkansas has the highest rate of senior hunger in America. Your donation will allow us to implement programs that will increase access to healthy food for our low-income seniors. The Arkansas Senior Hunger Summit we hosted in October set us on a path toward making sure Arkansas seniors don’t have to choose between buying prescriptions or buying food.

Your support will help fund nutrition education programs like Cuestiones de cocina y Cooking Matters at the Store. Since we started these programs in 2010, more than 4000 low-income Arkansans have learned how to stretch their food dollars and prepare healthy, nutritious, economical meals for their families.

Give big. Give small. Just give.

On Tuesday, December 2, make the Alliance a beneficiary of your generosity by going to

Whether you can give a lot, or a little, your tax-deductible gift shows you care about ending hunger in Arkansas and giving our children and families the chance to flourish. Thank you for supporting our mission.
