What a great day to be involved in advocacy!
Our goal was to raise awareness about hunger with state legislators and advocates from across the state, including college students.
On Wednesday, February 22, we gathered for Lobby Day 2023, our in-person advocacy event. We kicked off the day reviewing talking points about our bills and learning about asset limits and school meals. Everyone attended legislative meetings, decked out in Lobby Day t-shirts, then reconvened for a lunch of beans and cornbread with legislators. Participants got time with their legislators, took photos, and received Alliance capacity building grant checks. Attendees filled the House and Senate galleries after lunch and were recognized by their legislators. We hosted 100 participants and over 35 legislators ate lunch with us. We tracked over 136 personal interactions between attendees and legislators throughout the day! Our large and visible presence at the Capitol provided the opportunity to build relationships and emphasize the need to address hunger in Arkansas through advocacy. A big thank you to all who attended; we look forward to seeing the results of our work. Follow this link for a full gallery of images taken at Lobby Day 2023.
