#SNAPMatters: Help increase SNAP with National Call to Action
Wednesday, April 22 is National Call to Action Day for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP. On Wednesday, join the Alliance in calling your senators and representatives to ask that they include these three crucial changes to SNAP in the next COVID-19 relief bill:
- Please boost maximum SNAP benefits by 15%
- Increase the minimum SNAP benefit from $16 to $30; and
- Suspend all administrative rules that would cut or terminate benefits until the economy improves
Please make three calls — one to both senators and one to your representative. For Arkansans, here’s a list of your senators and representatives and their phone numbers:
Sen. John Boozman: 202-224-4843
Sen. Tom Cotton: 202-224-2353
Rep. Rick Crawford: 202-225-4076
Rep. French Hill: 202-225-2506
Rep. Steve Womack: 202-225-4301
Rep. Bruce Westerman: 202-225-3772
After you’ve made your three phone calls, please encourage others to do so: Between 2 and 3 (Central Time) on Wednesday, please tweet or post on Facebook about your support for the above changes to SNAP, and tag the Alliance, our six food bank partners, your congressional delegate, and your friends to remind them that #SNAPMatters, especially during the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
