Welcome

Welcome to Hunger Matters, the official blog of the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance. We are excited about launching our new website and blog. This gives us a more efficient vehicle for keeping you informed about issues effecting food insecure Arkansas families and the organizations devoted to ending hunger in our state.  We will report the latest figures and research findings about childhood and household food insecurity in Arkansas, as well as state and federal legislation impacting food insecurity. We will also let you know about special events and activities promoting hunger awareness and how you can help.

You will become familiar with the Arkansas Gleaning Project, based on the age-old practice of hand gathering produce left from the harvest. And because the Alliance is the lead partner for the No Kid Hungry Arkansas Campaign, we will bring you updates and commentary about our nutrition education programs—Cooking Matters and Shopping Matters—studies showing the value of Breakfast in the Classroom, and the Summer and Afterschool Meals programs that help feed low income children when school is not in session.

There’s a lot going on in Arkansas to help end hunger and improve the health of Arkansans. We look forward to keeping you aware of all of it. So, once again, welcome to Hunger Matters; we hope it will become part of your regular on-line reading.
